We broke a deep trail from the parking area to the Independence Mine. Snowing hard and trail breaking over knee deep.

Heavy precipitation. Rapid loading from 2+ feet of snow. January persistent weak layer 150cm down.

Snowing 1 inch per hour. Light wind and poor visibility.

2+ feet of new snow.

Snowpack

Snowpack observations from 3600 feet on a 10 degree South aspect. Height of snow was 310cm. Ski penetration 75cm. Boot penetration 110cm. ECTX, shovel tilt easy. PSTEnd 45/150 down 150cm above January facets.
