Route & General Observations

Skied from Hatcher Pass Lodge through Independence, Goldcord and High Grade up to Friendship Pass. Sunshine has been affecting the fresh snow. I saw results of several sloughs that ran for a few hundred vertical feet, all on southerly aspects. Though southerly aspects have sun effects, the snow surface also has surface hoar crystals that formed in the clear and cold nights.

Skiers will enjoy the firm base with unflinching support, topped by a layer of sweet faceted snow.
