Went on short tour to see if any natural avalanches occurred during the last snow fall.

The mountains had a nice coating of snow, with 8-12" of storm snow observed.
10:45 @ independence mine parking lot, temp 5f, no precipitation, calm with broken skies.
11:05 @ 3600' right of microdot up-track, 3 degrees Fahrenheit, no precipitation, light winds from the SE, broken skies.
20-30 cm of storm snow was observed. Ski penetration was 15cm in most areas with windward features having only 5cm of new snow.
Wind effect could observed in some areas especially near ridge top.
No propagation was observed in this pit. Failure occurred @ 20cm at a density change within the storm snow. Small cornices failed when stomped on test slopes.
