Route & General Observations

Standard route up to 3300′ on ridge line above Hippy Bowl. Looking at new snow amounts, rain/snowline, and for buried facets/surface hoar on northerly aspects above 3000′.

Solar initiated roller balls, skier initiated roller balls and very small skier triggered wet loose activity

Temps in the 30Fs at road level: 1000', 20Fs at upper elevations.

Snow Characteristics

Snow surface

1000': 2" of new snow that had been rained on. Rain on snow was present until 1500'.
1500': 6" of new snow over moist crust
2000': 10" of new snow over moist crust

2500': 10"-15" of new snow over crust
3300': 15-20" of new snow over crust on southerly and on northerly over snow from last Saturday's storm resting on small facets/ buried surface hoar

Snowpack

See APU ob for pit at 2200' N aspect
Pit @ 3300' on NW aspect 25* slope showed propagation propensity on a layer of small facets and buried surface hoar 50 cm below the surface. This snow total (slab) included the 4 inches that fell last weekend. See photos and video. CT 21, ECTP 23, ECTP 27
