Observer Comments

Large whumpf around 3000' while climbing the common bowl ridge, surprising us. 3 of us were all grouped fairly close together when it occured. Multiple loose slides. Roller balls off of the cornices on CFR and Hippie bowl. Fairly large debris pile down a chute between Todd's run and the common bowl.

Weather

Weather

Pleasant Wx. Very few clouds in the sky. Cumulus clouds moving in from the west noted around 2pm. Light winds coming from the East on the climb but was coming from the SW at the ridgetop. Temps at 2200' at 11:30 was 3C.

Snow Characteristics

Snow surface

Typical springtime freeze-thaw cycle. Slightest dusting of new snow above 2200' to about 2in at the Common bowl top on non solar aspects. Directly south aspects had just about perfectly ripe corn at 1:45pm.

Snowpack

Dug down at the Wx station and noted the crust only penetrated ~10cm down.
