Route & General Observations

Ascended from Cornbiscuit lot, up Superbowl, skied several laps in Gold Pan, and skied out Bertha Creek

Red Flags

Observer Comments

None. However, there was sluffing off of some rockly steep aspects, a dry loose D1 off of the SW aspect of Cornbiscuit that funneled into a gully, and an old D2 soft slab avalanche that looked to have occurred shortly after the last storm in the Gold Pan area (not sure of the peak name). Picture in photos below.

Weather

Weather

Inversion. Sunny and warm up high.

Snow Characteristics

Snow surface

Widespread surface hoar up to alder line. Once we began skiing up the Superbowl valley between Magnum and Cornbiscuit the surface hoar disappeared. Surface hoar wasn't present in Superbowl or Gold Pan. We found wind slabs in isolated locations - in the valley flats between Magnum and Cornbiscuit on our way to Superbowl (didn't find in actual Superbowl along uptrack) and along the ridge towards Magnum after topping out on Superbowl. Mostly the snow was faceted out and skied nicely.

Snowpack

No formal snow pits.
