Standard uptrack. Hiked from the road to about 1400′ and then put on skis. Good visibility.

None observed. Minor cracking in stiff snow near the ridge. No results in hand pits.

Snow Characteristics

Snow surface

A few inches of snow at road level with some graupel on the surface
Soft snow until around 2000' when wind effect became evident
Variable surface conditions up to 3100'. Wind skin to stiff wind crust. Rime crust and sastrugi

Snowpack

Road level 1-2 inches on a variable degrading crust (getting more supportive with elevation). Some open creeks and soggy areas
1500' 2-4 inches on a crust
2000' 6-10 inches with a crust near ground facets below
2500' 1-2 ft. with a couple of crusts near the ground
3100' 1-3 ft. with a crust about a foot deep and then a series of crusts near the ground. Lots of variability in depth. Probed up the skin track and out onto the face a number of times.
See snow pit photo for snowpack details. Two pits dug at this elevation. No results x 6 compression tests on the November 23 buried surface hoar layer.
