Snow Characteristics

Snow surface

Soft surface about cm depth. Some areas of wind affected strastugi

Snowpack

Shallow snowpack. Pit dug at 3200’, NW aspect, ~35* slope angle. Average height of snow ~ 11cm. Melt freeze crust layer 10cm thick located 10-20cm from ground. Found to be very reactive; failure at 20cm with 10 taps and 1 full hand “slap”.
