Route & General Observations
- Hiked/skinned up to falls creek lake. Snow level @ ~ 2000′. Generally supportable snow
Overcast, Winds were gusty and strong traveling north up the valley and strong enough to transport dry surface snow at upper elevations
2000'-2500': Supportable crust (rain or MF) with the top 3" being wet corn. Ski pen: 1". Foot pen: ankle to mid shin.
2500'-3200': Supportable crust with only the top 1/2" starting to soften up. Ski pen: 0-1/2". Foot pen: up to ankle. Much drier snow
Hand pits from 2000' - 2600' showed very moist to wet grains in the top 1' of the snowpack with hand shears occurring with medium/hard force at base of pit cut.
Dug one NNW aspect pit on a 33* slope @ 3200' above Falls creek lake (at marker location). The pit showed generally right side up snowpack with 1F to pencil hard snow and low propagation propensity.
CT24 PC down 25cm on MF crust
ECTN 24 PC down 25cm on MF crust and only occurred under shovel
