Route & General Observations

From common Cornbiscuit uptrack into Superbowl. Skied North and West aspects in the bowl. Glide cracks are present at the head of the bowl where the common skin track usually is placed. An alternative track has been placed higher on skinner’s right in the bowl to avoid being under the glides. Much of the common skiing terrain at the back of the bowl is being eliminated because of the glides.

Weather

Clear, cold, calm.

Snow Characteristics

Snow surface

Dust on crust below tree line. More breakable crust at tree line to ~100' above. Good snow conditions in the Alpine with wind effected snow on and just below ridge line.

Snowpack

Quick hand pits at tree line and again at 2,000' on the North West face (road side) of Cornbiscuit. No BSH found. Pit at 2,750' off the Cornbiscuit ridge line facing due North, 35deg slope. No BSH found. 180cm total depth, the top 100cm was dug out. Pencil to 1 finger from 80 to 130cm. 130 to 155 cm 4 finger. 155 to 180 settled powder. ECTN22, with an unimpressive low quality failure at 135cm (from bottom) possibly on the density transition. I spent a lot of time looking for surface hoar on the failure and could not find it. Photos attached, maybe you can see something I didn't.
