FORECASTING GOALS
The Friends of the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Information Center (F-CNFAIC) is a
non-profit 501(c)(3) corporation, organized to support and contribute to the educational
and scientific activities provided for the public by the CNFAIC.
These activities include, but are not limited to fundraising events, avalanche education for the public,
operation and maintenance of weather stations
and empowering the public t submit snow observations to supplement work done by
the CNF forecasters.
Forecasts seven days a week. To account for the statistical certainty of storms that occur from Sunday night to Tuesday morning.COMPLETED. Earlier forecasts. Preferably by 7:00 a.m. since many folks head out to the mountains early.COMPLETED. Forecasts for all of April. We got the first half, lets get the 2nd half of the month as there are lots of people still riding Forecasts for Chugach State Park and Hatcher Pass Area. Gaping avalanche forecast hole in the Chugach and Talkeetna Mtns The Friends of the Avalanche Center was formed in 2003 to bridge the gap between available funding and the actual expenses of operating the Center and to protect it from year to year funding variations. The Friends are always looking for ways to raise more funds to support avalanche information and education in Alaska. If you, or someone you know has an idea that would support fundraising efforts, or to make a contribution, please contact the Friends Directors. Notification of events and training opportunities. Promotion of the advancement of snow science in the local mountain ranges Donations are tax deductable. Memberships in the Friends run from October 1st to September 30th each year. All contributors of $10 or more will become members automatically.
